Using Earswrap if you wear hearing aids

Yes, with careful placement. Apply where the adhesive does not interfere with the hearing aid hook.

Quick answer

Earswrap can be used by most people who wear behind-the-ear (BTE) or receiver-in-canal (RIC) hearing aids, as long as the adhesive is placed below or away from the spot where the device sits on top of the ear. Earswrap is applied to clean skin behind the ear and does not enter the ear canal. If you wear an in-the-ear (ITE) hearing aid, there is no interference.

People who wear hearing aids often feel that their ears already stand out because the device sits on top. Pinning the ear back can make the hearing aid less visible and reduce side-to-side asymmetry. Earswrap is a thin liquid adhesive applied behind the ear, which means it can coexist with most hearing aid styles when placed thoughtfully.

Where it helps

BTE and RIC users

Apply Earswrap to the lower or middle portion of the back of the ear, below where the hearing aid hook rests. The bond holds the lobe and middle of the ear closer to the head without touching the device.

ITE and CIC users

Fully compatible. Earswrap is applied behind the ear, the hearing aid sits in the ear canal, no overlap.

Audiology appointments

Remove Earswrap before fittings or molding sessions so the audiologist sees the natural ear position.

Questions

Will it affect how my hearing aid stays in place?

No. Hearing aid retention relies on the hook on top of the ear and the ear canal, neither of which Earswrap touches when placed correctly.

Can it damage the hearing aid?

Earswrap should never contact the device itself. Keep it on skin only. If a drop touches the device, wipe immediately with a soft dry cloth.

Is it safe with cochlear implant magnets?

Earswrap is not designed for use near surgical implants. Check with your audiologist before applying near an implant site.

Do I need to remove it before bed?

Yes. Remove Earswrap nightly with warm water and mild soap, the same way you would remove your hearing aids.
